Free Mobile Phone Bibles

Many mobile phones can play games thanks to the Java operating system built into it. Less well known is that that same Java system can run bibles or part bibles. There are two free bibles that run on many Java based phones. The best is GoBible that has links to an amazing number of language versions. The only version in English is the KJV. The other one we have found is from OliveTree that supplies a free ASV Bible for downloading. (If you are not bothered about the cost of web browsing on your phone, they have several versions available for live web browsing).

Both the GoBible KJV and OliveTree ASV are intended to be downloaded by PC and transferred to the phone. Both are able to go directly to an intended verse and have a simple search facility acting as a simple concordance. We have tested both on a Sony Ericsson W580i but they will also work on many other phones. We found the GoBible seemed to work slightly better for some reason. If you think they might work you can but try – both are free if you are able to transfer the files from your PC!

In addition there are several modern versions available from Christian Mobile for a fee intended for mobile phone download for those of you who are into direct phone downloading.

Just don't blame us if you get accused of texting during the sermon when you are really looking up a scripture verse!
