Easter, a special time for the Christian Church, was commemorated in fine style at Carter Knowle.
On Good Friday 21st March, a special Service was held at the Church.
People of all ages and backgrounds came together for this special service, including a number of visitors from the local and wider community.
The focus was the Easter Story, taken from the Gospel of St Luke – Chapters 22 – 24 and using the Contemporary English Version as a means of making the Easter Story as simple and accessible, yet as meaningful, current, and as poignant as it could ever be, and just as relevant to 2008.
Readings of the Easter Story were provided by members of the Church, as was special music.
There was also a time in the Programme for those attending to share just what the Cross-, and more importantly, the Resurrection meant to them.
On Sabbath 22nd March, Pastor Eglan Brooks – Personal Ministries Director of the British Union Conference of Seventh Day Adventists was our Preacher for the day.
His wife, Tina, and their children joined Pastor Brooks.
Pastor Brooks continued our Easter theme with the title for his Sermon being ‘Showdown on the Hill’. Pastor Brooks spoke with passion, pathos, and eloquence, and reminded all present that it may sometimes feel that the pain of Good Friday comes in all our lives, but that we should never lose hope, because the joy of Resurrection Sunday is our assurance.
It is hard to think of a better way to commemorate the Easter experience, or to prepare us for Spring Evangelism, which is just around the corner.
