Street Pastors

Street Pastors is a project to reach young people and vulnerable adults. It is designed to befriend, support, listen and guide young people and interact with the community. Street pastors is about Christians giving up 3– 4 hours a month to be a presence on the streets of Sheffield, to make a positive difference in teams of three. The project was launched at the Town Hall with training to commence on the 21st of November starting with worship. Anyone above the age of 18 can get involved. If you would like to be involved, please speak to Pastor Andrew Rashfor-Hewitt on 0114 240 2491.

Adra shoebox appeal for children abroad. Please fill your boxes with toys, books, pens, pencils, erasers and general items, no sweets or toys that need batteries please. You can give your boxes to C or J Reid, Bro A Douglas or Sis Campbell. With thanks from the community department and ADRA on behalf of children overseas. For children up to 15 years.

Drop-in Centre

Following the sickness of Sister Bussue there has been a change in the format. Meet at the church from 10.30 to 14.00 every Thursday for prayer, bible study, chat & a short walk followed by soup and bread/sandwiches.

Get Walking Keep Walking at the Drop-In Centre

Those of us who meet in the drop in centre are a mixed bunch as far as walking goes. We range from those who try to get out walking most days to those who feel as if they are grafted to wheels!

We were fortunate to have the company of Helen Judge accompanied by two volunteer walkers all from the Get Walking Keep Walking project for several weeks in July & August 2009. Read more …

Pathfinder Notices

Adventurer Camporee 2009 was without doubt a blessing to all who attended. We now need to plan for next year.
Adventurer Camporee 2010 will be in England while Camporee for Pathfinders will be in Finland. The flights to Finland per person will be approx £600. Travel via coach and ferries is cheaper but will take too long.
We need to begin fundraising in earnest.

‘All Sports Women Team’: We are setting up an ‘ All Sports Women Team’. The sports we hope to play will vary from Football to Volleyball. We welcome any further sport suggestions. If you would like to join the team, then please contact Martyn Lee, Nikki, or Laurelle to have your name put on the list.
As part of the Women Team ” All Sport”, Lottie is proposing a Freezbie sport session on Sunday the 24th of February 2010 at 10:00 am ’til 12:00 pm. The location is in the park across Crterknowle church. All are welcome to join. Let’s Have fun!
Ingathering is coming up, please begin to collect your coins to make a dynamic start.
The Tursday “Drop In” centre restarts on March 4th 10AM – 2PM
Prayer meeting continues with the theme- Prayer, Praise and Proclaim. Come let us seek our God, let us praise his name, let us find power to overcome every hour. 7.30pm Wednesday night.
All Night prayer 13 march 8pm to 5am…the theme is “the Leader, Jesus”. All are welcome to come out and seek the Lord’s face in prayer.
Youth Week of Prayer 21 march- 27 march…every night 7pm …Saturday 27th at 4pm…please invite friends and family and pray for the moving of Holy Spirit during the week.
April Month of Evangelism is coming up. A time to invite friends, pray for neighbours and invite them, invite your friends, each Sabbath day here at Carterknowle. Let us use this month as a time to win and influence peopel for Christ and invite them to the church services. This month will serve as a follow up to the Youth Week of Prayer in March and will conclude with a baptism.
Street pastors is progressing with another training session taking place Saturday 27 February. Please continue to pray for this effort to reach young people on the Streets of Sheffield for Christ. It is planned that the first street pastors will be on the streets withing the next few weeks. Please continue to pray for this program as without prayer, it shall be no more than another good idea. If you would like to become a Street Pastor prayer supporter which will be to pray for the program systematically, or to become a street pastor, contact our Pastor, Andrew, when he returns.
Prayer meeting continues each wednesday. Let us take the time to come to pray and worship from 7:30-8:30pm. Prayer keeps us going like nothing else can, in a way nothing else can.
Burngreave Church will be hosting the Macedonian Call Friday April 23rd and Sabbath April 24th. This is a programme to encourage personal ministires and evangelism. There will be a host of speakers from across the conference and the SEC. Let us pray and support this program as we may be available. Contact Pastor Marshall for more information.
Let us keep our fellow familly church members in prayer who have recently been bereaved. Let us continue to call them, visit them and remember them in the next few weeks and coming months ahead.
